The US might be anything but still a democracy with well-defined state policies on various matters. American casualties are generally disclosed in time, usually all over the news.



Iranian attack on a Iraqi military base housing American troops is old news and what exactly is in it that warrants keeping secrets? There is a fairly good explanation of how casualties were avoided in this incident:

The Americans did not "detect" the attack. That's just bullshit US propaganda.
Iran had officially informed Iraqi authorities of our intention to launch the attack more than 4 hours before the attack. This has been confirmed by both Iranians and Iraqis.

Whether they detected it or not, we have no confirmation of it, at least I haven't researched it, but the SBIRS IR warning system warns against missiles that rise beyond the stratosphere with the rocket on, which is characteristic of ballistic, boost-glide and some semi-ballistic missiles (e.g. Kinzhal or Iskander). In theory, they have the capacity to have detected this attack.

2/7 US THAAD batteries are now in Israel (c. 30% !)

Iran just needs more missiles to deplete them, it doesn't change much

but it is great for Russia and China to learn from Iran how to defeat these systems

I don't think that is true. They had some primitive old shelters designed to protect against rocket attacks like Grad, not against ballistic missiles. The 60 minutes episode on this was quite informative

I agree the US detected the preparations, they even monitored and detected Israeli preparations for their attack in Iran recently (per the leaked US intel memo). Operation Martyr Soleimani was a bit different as Iran informed Iraq some hours in advance of the operation, clearly intended to avoid escalation/casualties.

Yes, but as you said, IR sensors detect missiles when they are being launched, not 4 hours before the attack. The Americans were fully prepared for the attack. They had even discussed who should stay where and who should be in bunkers.
Watch Gen. McKenzie's interview with 60 minutes.

He claims that they had noticed Iranians "were moving their missiles". He then claims that they waited for Iran to download its last commercial satellite image before they fully evacuate their personnel and tell them to hide in bunkers. I call all of that bullshit. Iran had warned Iraq of the incoming attack 4 hours before the attack. This is something that has been mentioned both by Iraqi officials and Iranian officials. The rest of it is the usual US bullshit about how impenetrable they are.

The Americans can track this type of launch preparation when the launchers are being moved to the launch sites. It is quite likely that the Iranian missile bases were being monitored by SAR/EO satellites given the gravity of the situation, which would provide advance intelligence information about a preparation for an attack.

This was done in TP1/2, because I followed it in real time, the Americans had informed in advance the movement of the launchers to the sites to prepare for the attack. The same thing could have happened, considering that American capabilities did not change or diminish.

TP1 was a clown show. You didn't need intel to know it was ongoing. They started the operation by launching 150 Shahed-136 drones with piston engine that is so loud that they're called lawn mower (moped) in Ukraine. The people in Khuzestan and Iraq had already uploaded videos of the attack when they were launched and that was hours before they would reach Israel. They launched the missiles once the drones were in Jordanian Airspace and the US and her allies were intercepting them. So, Israel and the US knew that the attack was happening several hours before it happened. Even people on PDF were discussing every step of the attack as soon as videos were uploaded to social media. In short, it was a joke.

TP2 was different but again, we know that the US and Iran had communication channels about the attack after the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran. Both Iranian officials and the US officials have publicly revealed that they were communicating through their channels about Iran's response to the assassination. The US media warned about the attack 24 hours before it happened. I highly doubt that the IRGC needed to move their missiles to launch positions 24 hours before the attack. I think, again, the US had been informed of it through communication channels.

A better question is, how successful the US has been in detection of Russia's missile attacks on Ukraine?

Quite high, by the way. What Ukraine lacks are air defense missiles, there are so many drones to shoot down that they end up running out of missiles when the real attack (CM and BM) is launched.

An 8th THAAD battery is set for operational capability in the next couple months.

An the Patriot battery in Kyiv has been highly successful in destroying Russian missiles. So successful in fact Ukraine wants 20 batteries for coverage of the entire country.

Everyone knows where the PAC-3 battery is in Kyiv, and Russia still can’t destroy it.

They were overhyped.

Iran penetrated Israel like a knife through butter. Not a single intercept of a BM was observed.

We did observe several failed intercepts...with their systems reaching their end point miserably late.

Remember the goal posts shifted from Iran not being able to strike Israel at all, to irans missiles didn't do much damage so it's no big deal.....(I do not agree with that BTW I believe Iran caused the damage it intended in its imited response).

Probably. I don't know. When something in a chain fails, it's hard to pin-point which one has failed but one thing is for sure, Russia is not and will not be the only country that will overwhelm the air defenses of the target country and Russian missile attacks on Ukraine have been very successful for the most part.
