I think it is misleading. France will be against a new civil war in Lebanon. Isn't like France is giving weapons to Christian fraction (Lebanese Forces). They will give weapons to the official army and not militias The problem is that if a war broke out in Lebanon, Lebaneses mainly Maronites will blame Hezbollah for the chaos. US has given all the hardware to the entity to hit Hezbollah anyway and there can only be so many planes near or over the crowded skies of southern Lebanon.

The targeting of Hezbollah cannot increase by a single missile or bomb per day.

I do not see why Hezbollah will be deterred if the US joins in and it just means that Hezbollah and the "Axis of Resistance" have some juice targets in the Mediterranean that they can hit.
