Israel wants to extend P1 instead of starting P2 to get all its prisoners out of Gaza without having to leave or agree to end the war. This is the problem with the compromise Hamas had to make to get to this deal (initially they refused to accept a deal that didn't end the war).
Will Hamas accept? It is possible that Israel will give the mediators some assurances about P2 that will Hamas them to save face and continue the deal, and Israel will then breach those assurances as usual.
