As they say, follow the money trail! And AIPAC is not just another 'lobby': It doesn't work solely to enhance America-Israel ties. It works to install the American govt officials to advance Israel's interests. You can count on that if some Russian or Arab or Chinese lobbies would do the kind of machinations AIPAC does then those lobbies would have been banned and faced consequences.
AIPAC is a cancer to America!

NEW YORK, March 12 (Reuters) - A coalition of progressive groups is asking U.S. President Joe Biden and other Democratic Party officials to not accept endorsements or contributions from a pro-Israel group and its affiliated super PACs.
The "Reject AIPAC" coalition, which includes congressional group Justice Democrats and the Democratic Socialists of America group, is directed at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and affiliated groups. AIPAC, a political action committee, and the groups have already spent millions of dollars in the 2024 U.S. elections cycle.

The groups' campaign accompanies an increasingly organized movement within the Democratic Party protesting Biden's support of Israel. Israel's attacks on Gaza have killed over 31,000 people, according to health officials in the enclave, and created a humanitarian catastrophe. Israel is responding to the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas that killed 1,200.
Opposition to U.S. support for Israel hit the vote for Biden in the recent Minnesota and Michigan Democratic primaries, electing more than a dozen "uncommitted" delegates there.

"The coalition has been in the works for many months to get organizations together that have recognized the destructive influence of AIPAC," Ashik Siddique, a co-chair for the Democratic Socialists of America, said.
The Reject AIPAC coalition said on Monday it was calling on the entire Democratic Party to not accept support from AIPAC, adding that the group takes millions of dollars from donors who also support Republican interests.

Asked for comment, AIPAC said in a statement that its sole criteria for evaluating candidates from both parties is their position on strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Biden's campaign team and the Democratic National Committee did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Some of the top donors to the United Democracy Project, AIPAC's affiliated super PAC, include the Marcus Foundation, a group started by Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, and fund manager Elliott Investment Management, according to data from nonprofit research group OpenSecrets. Both the foundation and the fund manager have contributed to Republican interests.

UDP also has donors that contribute to Democratic interests.

Biden, a former vice president and senator, has long been a top recipient of the pro-Israel lobby, receiving over $5.2 million in support over the last 34 years, the most of any Congressional recipient, according to OpenSecrets.

A qualitative escalation that undermines efforts to calm the situation: Israel bombs Baalbek for the second time within hours... and Hezbollah fires missiles at military sites

But they (IDF) have indeed been very heavy handed. It's been quite hard to watch all the collateral damage, horrible.

war bad, but wield your world wisely.

It was indeed disappointing to see that a ceasefire for at least the month of Ramadan was not possible.

Per Israeli source, Hezbollah was testing the Iron Dome response. Cheap rockets keep depleting the Iron Dome--many rockets still fell on the ground inside Israel/occupied Golan. Next time...

The weakness of the IDF is such that they have yet to have bombed the Beirut Airport; in past, that's what they used to do first when issues with Lebanon. But now, into the 6th month of the conflict where Hezbollah has been almost daily launching into Israel, Israel is unable to do much.
Two front wars are horrible--ask Hitler! And the Wehrmacht was a mighty force unlike the IDF cowards!
6 months in, Hamas' last stronghold in Rafah and Gaza in ruins, Hezbollah still ''testing'' around.

Yea whatever mate.

An Iranian that knows about mullah trickery is not going to be fooled by ''next time''. Hezbollah will never ever engage in a full scale war with Israel. You can bookmark this post. Even if i am wrong, i will be a man enough to come and admit it. Unlike the mullah fanboys.

these are huge concessions and unfortunately indicate the dire predicament and desperation of Hamas
They aren't in a position to make big demands, that's for sure. An end to the assault and siege on Gaza should be the primary demand. PA can begin a diplomatic effort for statehood but it won't.

Hamas previously was part of the unity government and PA elements ruled parts of Gaza with Hamas officers. They were in control of border and commercial crossings at one point, in Gaza. As part of a reconciliation agreement.

Israel bombards deep into Lebanon for second day in a row. Israel seeks to take advantage of efforts to avoid wider war in the region and restraint of Hezbollah to score some hits:

They're showing too much restraint, imo. It appears no one was prepared for what happened in Gaza. But, Gaza exploded from the siege and made a last stand. It's a risk for Hamas but Hamas did not want the status quo in Gaza anymore. Hezbollah wants to avoid war at any cost, but Israeli's have appetite for it because they believe others are detterred after what they did in Gaza. And they're taking the opportunity to degrade Hezbollah's capabilities. Hezbollah hasn't struck Tel Aviv let alone Haifa in response to these attacks deep in Lebanon. Which makes sense that they don't want to be blamed for a war but we don't know behind the scenes Pentagon and Israel may have approved a attack on Lebanon months ago.

Hezbollah can't really help Gaza in long run. Maybe provide short term relief. That doesn't mean Israel won't attack Lebanon. Imo, Hezbollah should have shown more appetite for a clash early in Gaza situation as that could have disrupted their plans and led to a call for a ceasefire. It would be a strategic blunder if Israel ends up attacking Lebanon with full force after this after Gaza has been sidelined.

Consider also they're moving ground forces fast to the border. So, if and when they began large campaign on Lebanon, they'll invade southern Lebanon quickly to try stopping Hezbollah rockets. As they can't do that from the air. In that case Hezbollah may not be able to deploy it's maximum firepower. With Gaza, they were taken off guard and had to mobilize and so forth.

But we wish for a end to the Holocaust in Gaza as soon as possible. And no war on Lebanon either. Let's see if US will enable Netanyahu to be a Hitler 2.0 and start a regional war or not..

The positive with Hezbollah restraint is Israel would be seen as the aggressor in Lebanon if it escalated. But, with US media they can suddenly go into overdrive with insane propaganda to support adventures of this terrorist Jewish state.
