Without naming names, some are quite rapidly industrialising and modernising their countries - it will take another 10-15 years before you see the results.

It's a Red Queen's race and a handful of Muslim countries are barely tagging along in the back. The West continues to set the pace up front and the only non-Western country in the front running is China, not even India despite what the Indians like to believe.

Whether it's computing, communications tech, biotech, space tech, materials tech, aeronautics or anything else, the reality is far more sobering than wishful thinking.

As for analogy with Roman Empire, that is a big mistake to make as the world was not interconnected then as it is now.

The global interconnection makes it much harder for challengers to arise. It allows the leaders to sabotage potential challengers early on.

The US is expert at using democracy and the free press as weapons to hollow out and/or control other countries. China has arisen because they restricted these two Western weapons of sabotage and remote control.
