In 1973, Israeli had 2656 KIA officially. If hundreds of IDF were killed on October 7, and taking into account Israeli population has nearly tripled since that war, 7500 IDF soldiers would have to die in operations in Gaza (and the other fronts) to even reach the level of societal impact that war had on them.
Their claims that October 7 was the greatest loss of Jewish life since the holocaust, perhaps in one day may be true, but consider 1973 was a 3 week event, and the loss of life from that war was more impactful.
It’s the psychological and diplomatic blows, not the losses of personnel, in and of themselves, which will decide the impact of this moment. Their breakdown in social cohesion and diplomatic standing will also be impactful, as the images coming out of Gaza will be a defining moment in enough lives around the world, not just the Muslim and Arab nations.
A generation of Gen. Z around the world and especially in the US, will have this war as the benchmark of how the Palestinians are being treated.

Another point, the land for peace equation, after everything Netanyahu and the Israeli right wing has done (for the last 30 years, including the Assassination of Rabin) will also have a severe impact on the Israeli right wing movement (and their evangelical supporters). Many had been hoping this was the moment to kill the red heffers and destroy Al-Aqsa, but if the world back a lasting solution in the form of a Palestinian state with actual independence and sovereignty it will create such a mental breakdown for so many right wing extremists, … , especially if many/most/ or hopefully all the settlements are removed.
But the clock is ticking and this has to be done before the November 2024 US election, because otherwise Trump will come in and all this disrupted.

Whatever the outcome with Palestine there will and must be change in power holds in the middle East. Some of these rulers are an affront to humanity and Islam.
