Why do you think China will "never" catch up? Difference between China & US has only decreased enormously in last one decade.

By 2000s, China was nowhere close to US economy. By 2010, China crossed Japan as second largest economy. Today 4 Japan's GDP is equal to one China. China's economy is greator than entire European Union. Militarily by 2010, China had no capable destroyer, no 5th gen fighters, not a space power by then, Today they have massive fleet of their own modern destroyers, developed & deployed their own 5th gen fighters, and only nation on earth to have their very own space station.
