The assassination of the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, caused a sensation around the world, especially within the organization. Sami Abu Zuhri, a senior official in the Political Bureau, said in a television interview this morning (Wednesday) with Qatari Al-Araby TV: “We mourn the great leader and martyr Ismail Haniyeh.”

He also said: “This is a big blow. Israel is trying to break the resolve of the Palestinian people and Hamas - but this is a strong organization, which cannot be broken as a result of these strikes. Hamas is an idea - and the idea does not die by assassinating people. We have already sacrificed our top leaders in the past - Ahmed Yassin, Al-Rantisi, Shehadeh, and Al-Arouri.” And others - but the movement is still stronger. We will not be affected by such attacks and we will continue on our path.”

Among the countries that responded to the assassination were Türkiye and Russia, which condemned the operation.
