There is hope for good relations between Pakistan and Israel but people have to work to make it real. Pakistan's leadership seems uneasy with the idea of abandoning hatred as a political instrument; it was, after all, the instrument used to forge the state in the first place. Hindu-hate, Bengali-hate, etc. etc.

How many recall it was hoped the division of the subcontinent would pass when the hatred did? Yet deep down isn't this what Pakistan's leadership fears? That without the hate, they'd just be north-west Indians, soon to be merged with the larger state, to the great diminishment of their crooked status and privileges?
