Israeli media indicate that the target of the recent airstrike in Beirut is the head of Hezbollah's aerial forces.

these guys refuse to leave their offices in residential high rises in south Beirut .... how many more of them have to be killed before they move somewhere else ?!

They are behaving like the PIJ. And any talk of ceasefire should not mean lay low. Hamas's commanders that killed are usually underground or just went out on the battlefield and died there because an entire city was being decimated at a time so the commander of the regional brigade would just fight. And Hamas would increase fire an hour before any ceasefire to test seriousness of it and show they're still on high alert.

Even if floor/office is in middle of complex, they can reach it. But more importantly there are spies gauging the place 24/7 for such figures. And they do identify them and report to Israeli/US intelligence.

A 21 day ceasefire would involve both Gaza and Lebanon. But that would mean Israel actually has to cede it's hostilities on Gaza and end the genocide there. But they've committed a horrible massacre there today. Which is why I believe they threw that out to give false hope.

They said they killed this guy way earlier in the conflict. So unless they mean the next guy that inherited the position, then they're just calling anyone commander of air force. Or other times missile force.

One would have thought that, after this 2006 bombardment, Iran would have made it a priority to develop and deploy dozens of SAM systems across South Lebanon.

Especially after how Iranian drones helped Russia in Ukraine, Russia should return the favor and share at least S-400 level technology.

They're announcing it in this manner to give Hezbollah false hope and make sure he only deploys the minimum most firepower. It's an all out war in Lebanon. Hezbollah should not approach it as a skirmish, imo. If they're being hurt on a continuous basis they reconsider. If you take steps back or try to take steps down the escalation ladder, they see it as opportune to continue degrading your capabilities.

Hezbollah should approve a offensive operation as well. Such as saturation bombing of city of Safed with 700-800 rockets in one day throughout the day. That's how you deter. Israel is doing strikes all over Lebanon anyway and is it not holding back.

if the city is falling then of course these commanders should fight with their people to defend it. Hezbollah commanders would no doubt do this.

but these Hezbollah commanders are in Beirut, they are not in active ground combat, they do not need to be out in the open. let alone in south Beirut high rises every single time! infuriating incompetence
