China saved North Korea but US saved South Korea. China-led forces pushed all the way to Seoul which was impressive but US-led forces recovered all South Korean lands in a counter-offensive. However, Truman did not allow another push into North Korea and the war was concluded with international acceptance of South Korea as an independent state.

Vietnam War was lost because American leadership of the time made bad decisions. Vietcong's Tet Offensive in South Vietnam flopped in 1968 and US-led forces pushed all the way to strategic A-Shau valley in North Vietnam in 1969 but Johnson called for withdrawal from A-Sau valley after 12 days. This blunder allowed Vietcong to regroup and launch another attack on South Vietnam in 1972 but US-led forces inflicted heavy losses on Vietcong in Operation Linebacker and Vietcong decided to negotiate with the US to end the war. To Vietcong's surprise, Nixon had decided to abandon South Vietnam.

Nevertheless, Vietnam War did not stop the US from doing everything feasible to undermine Soviet Union.

War is a massive gambit. It can lead to death, destruction, and societal collapse. Who will win in the next war? Nobody can be sure.

Iraq created a more capable war machine than that of Vietcong but look at Iraq today.

Soviet Union had influence on many countries in Asia and motivated Arabs to destroy Israel but this did not work out. Soviet Union attempted to control Afghanistan but this did not work out. Soviet Union collapsed eventually due to American Color Revolution.

Russia was able to prevent cessation of Chechnya in a prolonged conflict and preserve Assad regime in Syria but is locked in a costly war in Ukraine. Obama allowed Russia to save Assad regime in Syria and Putin thought that he is King and overestimated his options in the next war. Now he finds out the hard way.

It is important to read history carefully and understand the strengths of the other side. Foreign policy miscalculations can have long-term consequences.

NATO is a powerful force. It cannot be pushed around and no side can defeat it in open all-out war situation. Many countries will collapse in this World War situation.

So think about how to preserve societies instead of making bad calls time and again.

Chinese and Vietnamese had the advantage of manpower and terrain along with the support of the mighty Soviets of that era ..... unfortunately , Muslim countries of the middle East don't have such advantage along with the abscence of military technology and industrial capabilities ..........there is no hochi min trail in middle East .....in the open desert everything is nothing more than sitting fucks ......Iraq war should be a good example for keyboard warriors,.........a good general will always avoid a war in which he has no chance of victory .....

1. To not allow Hezbollah a time to settle down.
2. Shift the battlefield towards South Lebanon.
3. Stop constant rocket attacks coming out of Lebanon.

How would Hezbollah counter this?

We have to assume Israel will not pursue the same tactics as last time, they have likely studied their errors closely and and and all the intelligence they have....


If it's the case they understand Iran and hezb well, then the only surprise factors are external support

There is nothing to get around Hezbollah infantry popping out from mountain holes in southern Lebanon and firing off ATGMs and heavy mortars and destroying tanks and armoured vehicles at will.

This mass campaign of bombing and assassination is in effect the entity being scared of a ground invasion as they know that Hezbollah has the upper hand in ground defence on home ground. Just before he died Nasrallah was "inviting" the entity to fight a ground war in Lebanon.
