That should be the choice in best case scenario, but no guerrilla force can withstand the carpet bombing IDF are doing in that area and resistance has to fallback a bit otherwise it will be really risky for them. The brutal force Israel has is, they will eventually be able to advance, question is how many casualties they are willing to absorb and how much time and resources they are willing to spend

With time they can totally conquer Beirut, but its cost can be 1000s of casualties for IDF and 10s of thousands for Lebanese people, and it may take them years

Hezbollah has the weapons(ATGMs and heavy mortars) to keep them stuck at or close to the border and the hills and forests of Southern Lebanon are ideal for ambushes.

Also Hezbollah fighters have better skill and courage than the Zionist terrorists and will wipe them out in man to man combat.

No, they're going to fortify their positions, and will be extremely difficult to dislodge.

How do I know? Look at recent major conflicts, from Syria, Libya and Sudan, to Ukraine and Russia's war.

Once territory is lost, it's very difficult to take it back. The IDF would suffer more casualties, but so would Hezbullah. The difference being that the IDF would at that point be able justify spending more resources to the Norther front and be able to declare victory because they'd be able to push hezbullah back away from the border.

Lebanon is a tiny country, 10-15 km is a HUGE loss of territory.

Yes but do you think resistance can keep IDF at border for long when they are carpet combing resistance positions with the help US/Nato scanning every inch of Lebanese front? Only time will tell i guess.

Building damaged by unmanned aircraft, IDF says
​

As we reported a little earlier, sirens and interceptions have been heard over central Israel.

Now, the IDF says two unmanned aircraft were detected crossing from Lebanon and one was intercepted.

"At this stage there is damage to a building in Herzliya. No casualties are currently known. The incident is being investigated," it says.

The Israel Police has received multiple reports of rocket fragments landing in the Herzliya area, a spokesperson says.

They add police officers and police bomb disposal experts from the district are on-site, managing the debris from the interception.
 

Sri Lanka condemns attack on two of its peacekeepers

Sri Lanka's foreign ministry says it "strongly condemns" today's attack on the Unifil (United Nations Interim Force) headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon, in which two Sri Lankan UN peacekeepers were injured.

"Sri Lanka upholds the obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and inviolability of UN premises at all times," the ministry says is a statement.

Its embassy in Beirut is in contact with Unifil about the medical attention being given to the workers.

Earlier, the Israeli military said it struck the Unifil base when troops identified an "immediate threat against them" nearby and opened fire, adding that the incident would be investigated "at the highest levels".

It's the second time in 48 hours that Unifil's headquarters had been affected by explosions, the peacekeeping mission said.
