Who really knows what's going on in Pentagon but we do know that the Pentagon, unlike the politicians in the Congress, does have professionally trained people and at least some of them are aware of the consequences of a regional war when America enters without fully ready. They have their own 'legacy' and 'reputation' to protect. The stain of the shameful withdrawal from Kabul in August 2021 is still fresh. Plus there are the thousands of American troops in Syria/Iraq who are 'sitting ducks'.
The Zionist influence is immense but it is not everywhere and not to the same extent. It would serve us well in this forum to understand the American political and the electoral systems and identify various entities and pressure points instead of the lazy, stereotypical statements most here make (not saying YOU are of them of). Similarly, the firing of Gallant had to do with his reluctance to escalate too much--escalation serves Netanyahu more than Gallant or Israel itself. So uncritically lumping all Israelis as one block like the Star Trek Borgs doesn't help.
