Bolded part: You give too much credit to those whose goals are short term $$. If they were that smart then the years of Obama/Kerry about JCPOA wouldn't be undone by a Trump administration within a short time. Once people really really understand how the American economic political setup works off foreign wars and how to use whatever little political leverage they have, then tide can be turned--even against AIPAC. The Iran JCPOA was favorable to the Democrats but not the Republicans. The Ukraine war is beneficial to the Democrats but not the Republicans. The war against the Palestinians is large beneficial to the Republicans but not to the same extent the Democrats. Its easier that way, so when these so called Woke Jihadist even try to go against the assignment, they will be bombed to hell. Why do you think US/Israel is allowing a rabid rebel group take over Syria? To Choke out Hezbullah further, and support to west bank, with Syria in fighting, Gaza destroyed with Hamas, Israel will hasten its annexation of West bank, question is how dumb Arab leaders have to be to not see this ?
Israel let Hamas grow to extent of so that they can launch a attack like Oct 7th so they have a legitimate reason to level Gaza and this is exactly they did, Its hard to believe that Israel or CIA or Egyptian Intel agencies have prior knowledge of Oct 7th Attack. Israel right wing and American's crazies are done playing the slow game here, they are pushing to annex the whole Palestine to build their dammed temple, there was a reason why right wing brought bibi back into power because he showed his tendencies to be a psychopath.
I am a minority opinion here for a long time: I don't think Israel, as a State, and even Netanyahu, would want the October 7, 2023 attack. They would have preferred to have let Gaza alone and actually sort of appeased Hamas. Gaza was not that important to Israel, relatively speaking, in short term. Gaza was always a 'red herring' from what I remember when Israel was withdrawing in the mid 2000s; yes, I remember those days. The real goal was the West Bank--consolidate that. Perhaps, only Perhaps, when the West Bank was totally in control then there would be a Gaza with no Palestinians but IMO Israelis were going to let Gaza live in peace, if not in prosperity, into the foreseeable future. What Israelis didn't understand is that Gaza was/is inseparable from the West Bank and Hamas had given plenty of warnings in the so-called few years of peace to Israel leading to October 7.
It is not that Israelis are so peaceful; they want to expand. It is just that they have a tiny, emigration-prone Jewish population and they can't have a lot of land to hold onto until tens of more Jews move to Israel from the world and that's is not going to happen for years.
