Hamas Concedes on Israeli Troops in Gaza, Raising Hopes for Hostage Deal
Hamas has yielded to two of Israel’s key demands for a cease-fire deal in Gaza, Arab mediators said, raising hopes of an agreement that could release some hostages within days despite the repeated collapse of previous negotiations.
The militant group told mediators for the first time that it would agree to a deal that would allow Israeli forces to remain in Gaza temporarily when the fighting stops. Hamas also handed over a list of hostages, including U.S. citizens, whom it would release under a cease-fire pact, something it hasn’t done since the first truce in the conflict last year.

A simple question to them (if they exist nowadays) or others.
How is it even possible for Palestinians to be divided politically as they have been since 1948 considering their situation?
Why has Fatah become so useless and why is Abbas not stepping down after 20 + years and giving power to more pragmatic, dynamic, younger and better leadership?
Why is there no equivalent of Hamas in the West Bank where most Palestinians live? Or at least some kind of armed opposition.
Why are there so many different military factions as well rather than 1 single one?
From the outside it makes no sense.
Also what are the millions of Palestinians in Jordan doing or the large and in many ways successful Palestinian diaspora doing? Why are they not better organized?
Many Palestinians have legitimate grievances towards the international community, Muslims and Arabs but they (leadership) have not been helping themselves either, unfortunately. Not today and not historically.

Hamas exists BECAUSE of the occupation, as long as their is occupation their will be resistance
What you are looking for is some sort of native American capitulation where the native indians accept the slaughter of their people by the whites and the theft of their tribal lands
That doesnt work in the middle east, or with Muslims, as long as their is occupation they will keep pushing, hitting, fighting and their will be resistance
Between lawfare across the world, to protests and boycotts and fighting and pressure their will be constant conflict until Israel can be bought to heel or the Jews can be pushed out of the middle east completely

Does anyone take whatever the Pope is saying serious? Christianity plays almost no role in Western politics and non-Catholics don't care or follow the opinions of him.
If I recall he was also somewhat pro-refugees in Europe but did it matter on the ground politics wise? No.
Muslims should not put hopes in non-Muslims when it comes to their own aspirations.
What has the Vatican done for the Christians of Palestine? I am not aware of anything that would change their situation.

Look, let us be honest here, the main blame for all of this (enabling Israel) lies with the US and the American people. Certain Muslims knew about that already and attacked them for that very same reason and where demonized by most Muslims as a consequence due to being scared.
However they were right in regards to the US and Israel. Whether we like it or not.
