There is some merit in your post but on the whole, if you posit that America wants to start a war against Iran then that's at least half wrong: Under Obama and then even under Biden, there was actual reaching out to Iran in addition to the JCPOA under Obama, which was BITTERLY opposed by Netanyahu and his lobbies in America. And Obama/Biden combine had ruled the majority of the years since starting 2009, thus they reflect the American electorate and official American policy to at least half the extent.
And you giving minor examples from 2012 are not enough. As Jeffrey Sachs in the video I posted above, 'seven wars' or fronts started by America on Israel's behalf and it is the Israelis--not the Democratic leadership--which wants to drag America into a war against Iran. But to the credit of even the majority Republicans, they too don't want a war against Iran but due to the catastrophic consequences for America itself. Anyone thinks America can duplicate the Iraq War of 2003 on Iran is a total fool!!
But I had quoted you above because of Jeffrey Sachs is asking, if not begging, Europe to look after its own interests and don't be a pawn of America: 'You are a 20 trillion dollar' block!
Yeah we remember Obama for Iran Deal in 2015.
But if you check out USA aggressive policy against Iran in 2010/2013, news of those days, you'll see another thing. Iran was under a big USA pressure those days, and USA used all their talking heads (European Union, United Nations, UK, Israel....) very aggressively against Iran, it was the Iran of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,. Besides it was the days of Arab Spring and Libya war.
USA tried to provoke a Iran aggression against USA aircraft carriers, somehow USA falsely was sure about a Iran attack against USA, that's the reason I say it's very interesting to study news of those days, because USA had twisted war plans and it failed. And those plans involved a lot of different actors: UN, EU, France, UK, and so on.
It was USA dragged by Israel those days? Unlikely, Israel were the useful idiots of USA in that story. So the question is what USA tried to do against Iran those days and why.
A duplication of Iraq War? Of course not, but a repetition of Libya war of course yes, that's the new paradigm of USA way of make wars, repeated successfully in Syria. Pay mercenaries, break prisons, destabilize economy and foreign commerce, impoverish the country attacked, air attacks, and so on.
Since Obama administration, USA acts in wars like Wall St bankers act in the stocks markets.
