Enemies are trying to mobilize protests to pressure Hamas to surrender. Then because of what people went through, they will agree to leave Gaza if offered citizenship somewhere else. They won't actually leave Gaza alone after that. Nor will they allow Palestinian Authority to rule Gaza.
Everybody is on in it or indifferent and concerned with their selves. Islam doesn't matter to this generation of Muslims, that is clear. They're not wanting Islam to have a big role in their lives. And they're misleading people by suggesting so. Much of this generation has been corrupted and if Hamas leaves the stage, we'll enter a long term period of liberalization of Islam that will last between 30-50 years.
They will go after Ahmed Sharaa pretty soon as well after they get the more pro-West Syrians situated in Syria.

If so then Muslims are becoming like Christians that are waiting for Jesus. When God himself is everlasting and can answer their prayers now and revealed Islam to Mohammed and Mohammed taught it to Muslims. We don't need to wait for anybody.
The issue is worse than that it's that Muslims aren't enthusiastic about Islam and embracing liberal lifestyle. If you keep pushing these things for decades, it will eventually conquer people's minds and hearts. And if you keep fighting against people that embrace Islamic lifestyle, then it also leads to Muslims losing confidence in Islam and developing weak imaan, even worse seeing it as bad for society.
That's the direction Muslim world is going. And that's not getting changed in our lifetime simply because God won't help themselves that won't help themselves. If the people themselves feel independent of God and move away from him, then they made that choice. He's there to accept our return but we don't appear to want to return anytime soon.
The hadeeth you quoted is considered by some weak. But all we know is the Mahdi is a Muslim that goes by the name of the Prophet - Mohammed Abdullah , and will rule somewhere closer to end times. But he's no savior and Islam rejects savior concept, only attributing that to God himself. We are gonna be judged by God and nobody can help us if our hearts are with dunya. At most Mahdi could make Muslims feel more hopeful or confident. And there would need to be an actual demand and enthusiasm for doing the right thing. Which may arise later on but not in the immediate term. Otherwise Muslims would have at least supported Hamas's struggle in Palestine. They won't support anybody. Rather, they listen to whatever their leaders say and their leaders observe US/Israeli policy for society and regional political affairs.

The depressing part isn't about losing or winning wars. Some Muslim majority nations win their wars and come out on top. The depressing part is never showing up to a war fought for Islam and the strategic interests of Muslim people. And especially when supporting people that embrace and spread a Islamic lifestyle , like Hamas.
Not only that, but working with non-Muslims to conspire against such people and provide material and moral support to enemy to achieve their objectives. Hamas are most certainly not 'Khawarij'. So Muslims providing support to non-Muslims is not to benefit of Islam and it's reflection of what's in their hearts. Which could be even anti-Islamic sentiment, God forbid.
