He might not have outright said it but we know what his priority was and it is not the hostages. Hostages are only used as pawns for his imperialist goals.

The big question is:

What this shows is that those who took the hostages were gravely mistaken in trying to use them as pawns to stop Israelis attacks against them. The blunder was made by Hamas and the consequences that flowed from that blunder are on them.
