Since 1948, Israel has adhered to one strategy: building military capabilities superior to the Arabs combined, and building a large nuclear arsenal. He refused to submit a peace initiative for the Arabs, and rejected Arab peace initiatives. Rejecting a Palestinian state under all circumstances. Military pressure on the Palestinians and Arabs. The goal is to make concession the other party's only option.
Israel's political and military behavior has not and will not exceed the limits of this strategy, no matter how many governments change between the work of Likud, and after 17 seventeen prime ministers from Ben Gurion to Netanyahu. The latter is the worst in his commitment to it. Unless the Arabs realize this strategy and that it is their holy book, they will fall into the trap of more concessions.
The fact that Israel has not changed its position on the conflict for 75 years, after all the wars, and after the Arab position changed upside down in recognition of Israel and free normalization with it, may mean that the problem is in Israel. But the truth may be with the Arabs. They are fed up with the conflict. This is what Israel bases its options on. Peace is not the first priority.
There are those who imagine the possibility of peace with Israel. This is an illusion confirmed by Netanyahu with his statement that the option of a Palestinian state has no place in Israel’s options. Sadat went to Jerusalem, the Palestinians recognized Israel, 7 Arab countries printed for free, and Israel’s position remained the same. Delusions are not a political choice. Maybe an escape from reality.
