But is exactly the problem. What I have said is not a platitude, merely the reality. Both sides insist on being seen as right and the other as wrong, since both use that as justification for the atrocities being committed. And neither side is willing to accept being told otherwise. For example, let us take this idea you state:
Who is wrong now, and always been wrong? Who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? Well, it depends on what side of the fence one chooses to be on. To me, it takes a level of impartiality that simply eludes almost everyone here, and in many other places, to be able to think through possible solutions logically in any manner that has any hope of being successful, given the inflamed rhetoric, emotions and actions and reactions everywhere.
Reality, as always, is in the middle. Both sides have a duty to prevent atrocities, and both a failing to meet their obligations. Until and unless this fact is realized openly by both sides, not much progress will be made, and the carnage will continue in proportion to the advantages and disadvantages accruing to both sides.
And as Ayn Rand said - you can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.
