Is this protection for the duration of the flotilla's voyage? Will the EU challenge Israel?
Although Italy's Minister of Defence sent out the first ship, and only hours after the attack, yesterday and sent a reinforcement ship today, it appears that's only to protect maritime rights of international waters.
Crosetto warned the activists against insisting on trying to break the Israeli blockade, "We cannot guarantee the safety of our fellow citizens if they enter the territorial waters of other countries."
