JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Maybe but I have a feeling Pakistan tested some sort of hypersonic missile in the Arabian Sea and that probably scared the Indian Navy
as per indian reports they tested Barak SAM and Brahmos from Vishakapatnam class destroyers.

may be PN did test something or just that they found the air wing of MiG-29 dead ducks

But that directly contradicts PAC’s thrust numbers on the data sheet and also the data sheet itself. I have a feeling they’ve told Alan that it’s the MA, but it’s actually still the 93. But who knows
In fairness to PAC's marketing team, it's well within their capacity to forget updating the engine thrust in their data sheets.

Exactly! You can't rely on PAC's marketing team stats. Remember 7 feet saga? and for so many years PAC website was showing payload as 3400 "lbs" instead of "KGs". There were several mistakes and outdated info. They updated that page once after 10 years and only changed few brutal mistakes. Rest of most of the page remains the same.

The JF-17 block 1 has a range of 3,000 km when carrying four missiles and three fuel tanks, and the range of block 3 seems to have decreased.

valid, but uec has been very quiet
IMO...at this point...it's largely inconsequential.

China's defence production capacity is the one to beat, not Russia. So, a smart customer wouldn't even be worrying about UEC, but rather, what GADI engine they can get as that is the future. For ex., if PFX is a future JF-17 variant, it'll likely use a GADI engine.

no thats completely fair, i just mean in reference to RD93's on JF-17s currently, i just dont think its something thats come to fruition ATM.

A Pakistani JF-17 Block III waiting inside its HAS at an operational airbase somewhere in Pakistan just waiting (impatiently) for the Indians to do something stupid, and then to be served fantastic tea:
