JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

I've got a few questions about the state of the JF-17 program as it is right now. If any knowledgeable members can help to answer this it would be appreciated.

The first being, is there still any plan to upgrade the engines to the RD-93MA or a WS-13 variant. The second one is, if you guys remember the pictures of the Block 3, the leading edge slats were grey in colour. Is there any sort of electronics packaged in them or its just for show?

Interesting - the veracity does need to be figured out but Im assuming the area was remote enough to where a dead stick landing could not be attempted.

Well I went through the twitter account, they do seem to have some exclusive pictures...

FALCON TALON 2024

For the first PAF JF-17 Thunders will be in action against American F-16s as Pakistan and USAF are all set to conduct 2 week-long advanced air warfare operational exercises, in the PAF Central Air Command Area of Responsibility in Pakistan. The exercises are starting this week.

What became of this exercise? Why hasn't there been any news of it from either side? There's nothing on the internet as well apart from a few insta and YT posts.

A JF-17 Thunder Block 3 aircraft, flying side by side with Qatari F-15QA (left) and Saudi F-15s (centre and right). This gives you an outline of differences between a single engine aircraft and twin engine jets. Obviously twin engine jets have more range, more payload capacity and more enhanced physical parameters but the single engine jets are generally maintenance friendly, helping them to provide a robust availability rate in tight times. Single engine jets remain more favourable for countries having low budget also.
