JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

All modern fighter jets, including the JF-17, employ a modular design. This is very similar to a personal computer. Users select different components (subsystems) to assemble the final product according to their needs, as long as they conform to the corresponding technical specifications. ------ The JF-17 fighter jet was designed from the outset to be compatible with both Chinese and NATO standards.

As for which subsystems or weapons and ammunition Azerbaijan will choose when purchasing the JF-17, this involves multiple factors, not just the performance or price of the subsystems or weapons and ammunition themselves.

In modern air power systems, fighter jets are merely the "tip of the blade," supported by a vast and complex infrastructure. Therefore, fighter jet trade is closely linked to national political and diplomatic trends. While the performance and price of the fighter jet itself are important factors in a buyer's decision, they are not the only ones. In some countries, they are not even considered important factors.

BTW.
In 2024, Serbia abandoned its plan to purchase J-10CE fighter jets from China and instead opted to buy Rafale fighter jets from France.
On the surface, Serbia has long relied on Soviet (Russian) standard weapons systems. Furthermore, Serbia's relationship with China has been very close in recent years. Therefore, their choice of the J-10CE fighter jet seemed more logical. However, they chose the Rafale.
Some international media outlets interpreted this as a signal of a shift in Serbia's political and diplomatic stance.
However, Chinese social media generally expressed understanding for Serbia's decision. No one criticized it.

Serbs want to get in the EU, that would have been difficult with close Chinese military relationship

We are certainly aware of this. However, this does not preclude defense exchanges between Serbia and China. The EU and NATO are two different things. China harbors deep animosity towards NATO, but our core target is the United States. We do not hate the European Union.

However, this is irrelevant to the main topic. We don't need to discuss it here. I was merely using this example to illustrate the complexities of military trade.

Yewa, EU and NATO are two different things, EU still sees China as a strategic challanger.

I'll answer your question from a Chinese perspective.

The Chinese philosophy of struggle is "to catch the thief, first catch the king."

The true core of NATO is the United States. Without the US, or if the US were defeated, other countries would be completely insignificant. NATO would naturally dissolve.

If we target other NATO countries instead of the US, those countries would rise up one after another, swarming to fight China at the US's instigation, while the US would secretly develop its strength in the background. This would severely deplete China's national power. When China finally confronts the US directly, its national power will be severely exhausted.

The EU doesn't have the US. The EU itself also has many internal divisions. Truly uniting so many countries is a huge challenge in itself. No European country possesses this power.

Directly attack the biggest enemy, and divide the smaller enemies. This is the strategy of struggle.

We can end this discussion here. If you're interested, we need to go elsewhere.

That may well be true but my statement is as well.

As it seems finally! … cannot wait for clear images in Azeri markings!
Is the following possibility possible?

Pakistan's JF-17B3 production for Azerbaijan is not yet complete and cannot be delivered. However, Azerbaijan urgently needs to showcase it for political purposes. Therefore, Pakistan may transfer several JF-17B3s and JF-17Bs from its PAF fleet to Azerbaijan for use in parades and pilot training. Once Pakistan completes production of the JF-17B3s and begins deliveries, these PAF JF-17s will return to Pakistan.

Due to different countries' tactical systems, fighter jets require separate configurations of relevant subsystems. There should be some technical differences between the PAF's JF-17s and Azerbaijan's JF-17s.
