JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Pakistan, Bangladesh and China need to integrate in air, ground and space.

This means Bangladesh needs to fully embed itself into the Chinese ecosystem.

So when India attacks either party, there is a uniform response with clear lines of communication.

So yes they should introduce the thunders ASAP.

Pakistan , azerbaijan, myanmar, nigeria, soon
Libya bangladesh
may be behrain

Nigeria has been very very slow on a follow up order for the JF17C. I suspect(my hunch) they will go western for the next order ( and fall in line with the Americans - i do think there was more to the USA attacks in Nigeria, than meets the eye ).

They sit at #10 in oil reserves : https://www.worldometers.info/oil/oil-reserves-by-country/

I don't see Bahrain as a contender to be honest, there is more chance of Iraq than Bahrain.

Nigeria isn't getting anymore JF-17s they don't have a need for fast jets since it's a largely COIN focused force, thats why they have ordered M-346s.

Because the three that they have are grounded may provide a hint as to why.

(As are all the ones sold to Burma: grounded.)

I agree, they don't really need jets

Even going for a western jet seems pointless

JF17s for them seem right for the threat they face, but they should have at least increased the order to atleast 10-20 jets to support their military

They seem quite effective for aircraft that were apparently "grounded" ......

Where is your proof that they are "grounded".

strange, video shows otherwise. Do you have a source for Nigeria's jets being grounded? They recently got integrated with ASEL Pod

JF-17 Grounding Issues in Nigeria and Myanmar

Overview of Grounding

The JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, developed by Pakistan and China, have faced significant operational challenges in both Nigeria and Myanmar, leading to their grounding.

Nigeria's Experience

  • Technical Issues: Nigeria's JF-17s have encountered frequent technical glitches, particularly with avionics and radar systems. The airborne interception radar has been unreliable, affecting the aircraft's performance.
  • Operational Impact: Due to these issues, Nigeria has sought alternatives, including the purchase of Italian M-346FA fighter jets, which are considered more reliable and maneuverable.

Myanmar's Experience

  • Grounding Reasons: The Myanmar Air Force has grounded its fleet of JF-17s due to structural flaws, including cracks in the airframe and malfunctions in critical systems like the radar. Reports indicate that up to 11 aircraft were rendered unfit for service.
  • Bilateral Strain: The grounding has strained relations between Myanmar and Pakistan, prompting Pakistan to send engineers to assist with repairs. However, these efforts have had limited success, and the situation remains unresolved.

Summary of Issues

NigeriaTechnical glitches, unreliable radarSeeking alternatives
MyanmarStructural flaws, radar malfunctionsFleet grounded, repairs ongoing

Both countries have experienced significant challenges with the JF-17, raising concerns about the aircraft's reliability and operational effectiveness.
