JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

IAF predicament after failure of Kevari Engine project must be the biggest lesson for military aviation industries all over the world. If you are looking to build a fighter, have a working engine in hand and build your fighter around that engine, else you will end up with a fighter that will be unable to fly. Luckly, Chinese cracked turbofan engine engineering secrets just in time.

The same blurry "nothing-saying green something", which at best resembles a JF-17-silhouette!

The Turkish folks had also understood it 100%. Hence, their max efforts have been directed toward developing and manufacturing indigenous engines for all sorts of their aerial, naval and land based platforms including rockets, missiles etc. Thanks to the Ukrainian War tons of Ukrainian engineers and technicians in these fields are being employed in the Turkish companies. Even Bayraktar has got its own JV with a Ukrainian company for developing turbo engines for its own drones....

Trust a snake before the Western Imperialists who are not short in resources and time so that you get back to them with a begging bowl....

Interestingly, there is no more JF-17 with it. It is PFX now. And I think it may turned out to be J-31 eventually. But that green aircraft is certainly JF-17 or some derivative of the same. Bravo! PAF for announcing the most vauge air craft program in the history of mil aviation! lolx
PAF marketing strategy in a nutshell:

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

There is a purpose behind this projection---& it has worked very well---.

BOL News report on PFX. Seems like a Super Hornet type upgrade for Thunder. Bigger engine, more payload, bigger dimensions. If it is so, then why on earth PAF went for J-10Cs?

It is a number and money game. When you have a limited budget you have to be creative and innovative. How does PAF purchase and replace ageing aircraft with quality aircraft that can challenge the enemy and that too without breaking the bank? The J-10C is still quite expensive. Especially if you induct them in greater numbers. The PFX program makes sense to replace the bulk. PAF can also induct a decent number of J-10C as force multipliers.

Bol is wrost channel for defense news, unreliable and bogus source

My thought dimensions remains same but only engine and avionics/AESA/EW/ECM and ECCM will be massively upgraded

The Gripen E is bigger and heavier than the Gripen C, essentially an almost new design with most of the systems being upgraded or replaced with new ones. Doing that to the JF-17 is beyond the capability of the aerospace industry in Pakistan, which hasn't attempted anything of that magnitude.
Gripen had a good design to begin with, jf17 isn't a great design to improve upon.
