JH-7 as a Missile Hauler Repurposing MastanKhans idea

yeah.. I know.. he meant JH7 as a missile carrier. I propose that KJ-500 AWACS may carry 2 or 4 heavy PL-17 as a first-seen & first-kill platform. A small booster can enhance the range further.
Definitely something that should be tested if it's feasible, if the Chinese allow it that is. We've never seen the PL-17 offered for export and if I'm not wrong it hasn't been officially recognised.

tell me which AWACS has BVR onboard? and J-10C is way way better option to carry PL-17 than JH-7, JH-7 is a maritime strike jet with limited maneuverability/agility

as a missile carrier, like a missile magazine for fighter aircraft. I think the OP is about that too, but for JH-7?

J10C would be better than JH-7 to carry PL-17 , J10C is a true air superiority fighter for PAF with his secondary ground attack capability, whereas JH-7 is a 70s era outdated design, no need need to carry PL-17, and JH-7 is only able to carry old PL-12/SD-10 for self defense and not even able to carry newer PL-15 so let forget about that JH-7 can carry PL-17

Pakistan has a long territory, but its depth is too small. Airports are mostly on the front lines, which is a congenital deficiency. To some extent, they are very similar to Taiwan. But Taiwan has mountainous terrain, a large number of shelters and underground hangars, short distance runways, and wartime runways. Paf is under a lot of pressure, and in the current situation, they cannot stop just by gaining air superiority. I think this requires the cooperation of the Army Missile Force. Instead of fighter jets, it was evident in this air battle that Pakistan gained air superiority by counterattacking with fighter jets, while India changed its tactics by disrupting air defense with drones and launching long-range missile attacks on airports. There will be more next time. I believe that the most effective offensive method against a country with relatively large depth, such as India, is still to use long-range mobile tactical missiles to saturate and attack military facilities. The J-16 or Indian Su30 fighter jets are not suitable for Pakistan, as the aircraft's RCS is already large enough. The Pakistani airport is too close to the front, making it a major challenge for covert operations.

JH7 time came and past by it is too late to induct it. lets focus resources onto the future. If PAF needs a heavy fighter then try to negotiate j16. I am sure if PAF play its cards right it can get it.

The fundamental reason why India has the confidence to continue harassing Pakistan is its continuous offensive capability, which is difficult to change in the current defensive PAF. Whether China provides PL15 or PL17, the controllable airspace range is only 4/500 kilometers, which is a restricted area for Indian fighter jets, not suicide drones and long-range missiles. On the contrary, if Pakistan attacks India's deepest region. The current fighter jets carrying any super missile face the following problems: high cost, high airport pressure, decreased deployment rate, and poor offensive sustainability. Going deep into the enemy requires taking risks. I guess this is why Pakistan only bombed the S400 once. In terms of attack, we need to learn from Iran, as underground facilities storing offensive long-range missiles and high-speed suicide drones are more practical. Jh7 and j16, the fundamental reason why these fighters have strong deterrent attack capability is that they are backed by Chinese Mainland, and we also have a quantitative advantage. This dense advantage and extensive depth advantage are not possessed by Pakistan. In short, even if Pakistan obtains J16, its effectiveness is greatly reduced. In addition, China has the J20 fighter jet, which is a fighter jet that truly changes its air strategy. It is invisible, has a large payload capacity, and can cruise at high speeds. At the beginning of the war, the J20 first gained air balance under the barrage of bullets, and then the J16 had a place to exert its power. As an asymmetric and relatively weak party, Pakistan needs to increase the power of its warheads and enhance the offensive capability of its army's tactical missiles. In the long run, if the PAF gains air superiority (J35), it will be very practical to acquire heavy stealth fighters with high payload capacity (KAAN) in the future

We can't get J-16 because its design is based on Flanker family of Jets, And Flanker design is Soviet/Russian INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, without Russian approval it's not possible that China sell J-16 to Pakistan

China sold a bunch of J-7 which are MiG-21 rip offs.

The USSR is our hostile country and we could care less about its intellectual property.

Russia and we have normal state relations, and we must honor the agreements to which we are committed.

J-16 exports must be permitted by Russia. This is a fact.

That's just the MiG. In the past, the Soviet Union sold many MiG fighter jets to foreign countries, while the Sukhoi fighter jet was used by itself, which seemed very mysterious at the time. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the only fighter jet that Russia has successfully sold to foreign countries is the Sukhoi series. This is their flagship product, and they will never allow it. No one would do something that would ruin their own job.

This might be silly but what do you think of ground-based mobile launchers of PL-15/PL-17/PL-21 that are inter-linked with air force's J-10s/JF-17s/AWACS and - if need be - ground radars?
@MastanKhan
Hi,

Something similar has been don but they will have a much shorter ranges---.

US has made changes in their older missiles---given them Air to ground capability---.

I believe that there is a ground to air capability as well---.

They were retired from VVS /Russian air force when you starring to selling J-7 to other countries, so no problem for them that you export to other countries but J16 case is different, Su-30 is operational in Russian air force and J16 is based upon Su-30 , so they won't like that China will sell j16 to those countries that have too much western influence so western countries have a great chances to espionage weaknesses and advantages of Su-30

You are correct for the most part, but I have some additional notes.

The JH-7 is indeed an ancient fighter, and it is outdated in many ways. It was discontinued many years ago. However, at certain international airshows in the last couple of years, we have seen this. the JH-7E. we have absolutely no idea what changes have been made inside it.

The JH-7 is certainly not a top-notch fighter in the current Chinese foreign trade arsenal. But it still has some very good features.

1. We may think it's insignificant. But in fact, it's a bit bigger than the J-10. Most importantly, its belly can mount heavy missiles, a capability that the J-10 does not have.

How will India feel if PAF buys a JH-7E and then mounts a YJ-21E in its belly?

2, JH-7 did have a lot of accidents early on. But China's military industrialization enterprises keep improving it, and it has become very safe in the later stage. Most importantly, it is very cheap and a very cost effective platform.

3. It can mount nuclear bombs ......

JH-7 flying leopard was designed after USAF's F-111 and F-4, without the variable-sweep wings, as at the time of its development, China did not have the capacity to mimic the Mig-23's variable-sweep wings, due to the change of the center of gravity of the plane if using this technology.

JH-7 flying leopard was designed as an ultra low-altitude radar-evasion ground/sea-attack plane, just like F-111. It also assimilated some European attack planes' design. Therefore, JH-7 flying leopard has a high-wing configuration, to accommodate all kinds of heavy A2G weaponry onto the pylons under the wings. This is not the case for J-10, J-16, or F-15, etc.

It is actually a good idea for PAF to acquire JH-7 flying leopard, applying the similar business model of the JF-17 thunder development.

First, China has established production lines for the airframe, for the Spey turbofan engines, and for avionics and weaponry. PLAAF also has years of operational hands-on experience to help PAF to master this airplane.

Second, there is high probability that PLAAF will transfer the whole thing to PAF if PAF's offer is attractive.

Third, PAF can invest money to improve JH-7, just like PAF did to J-7/Mig-21 to evolve into JF-17. JH-7 flying leopard can be improved into a half stealth fighter bomber, with twin engines, with the maximum take-off weight of 30 to 50 tons, with the payload of 8 to 15 tons, with the combat range of 1500 to 2000 km. This evolved model is something strategic, instead of tactical.

The same logic is applicable to PLAAF's J-8F, a twin-engine high-altitude high-speed A2A fighter.
