Joint Defense Agreement: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, news & updates

Hi, was on vacation - so catching up.

Not having dug in and frankly ignored all news & social media over the past ten days or so.

1. Is there any actual text of this agreement available other than news reports?
2. People lose interest in projects within a week, one cannot expect countries to have patience or interest over 5 or more years without concrete progress they can track.
As far as I have looked, no official text of this agreement is available. The only thing to go off of is the announcement in the news that "an attack on one will be considered an attack on all"

As for losing interest and not working towards it...well if the 3 countries take this agreement that lightly then they all wasted their time over the years...holding meetings and working towards something that eventually culminated in this agreement...
...and in that case this piece of paper(agreement) would be no more useful than toilet paper.

We don’t want a Sunni Muslim Alliance it need to be open to all.
Nobody declared it a "sunni alliance" EXCEPT for the house of epstein.

Do not be deceived into describing some "difference" that exists only in the mind of your enemy.

When folks are in danger of being "toilet paper" themselves they usually pick up arms and fight their way out....

Iran cannot be included in the pact and its not necessarily b/c of sects its , b/c

#1 its already in a state of war, so for it to be included it means the other 3 are entering the war against anyone attacking Iran, which is a complication as Turkey is NATO and Saudis have ties to the US as does Pakistan.

#2 Iran cannot enter without the Yemen tensions are settled with Saudi, and that cannot happen until there is a permanent accord between the Saudis and the Houthis.

#3 Iran has its own issue with regard to the Baloch issue, the Talib issue, the India issue with Pakistan. As well as previous issues between Turkey and Iran over the PKK(though I feel that one is largely resolved as the PKK and Turkey have come to negotiations, Syrian PKK is dissolving, and Iran now understands the danger to itself with such groups)
On top of that, Iran is run by religious fanatics, just like Afghanistan.

Combined strength of Turkey-Saudi Arabia and Pakistan

interesting. If you discounted US forces, this combination rivals NATO in size.

The Naval element is probably where we can achieve full operatability easily and quickly.

Turkish FM outlined that much ongoing dicussions in the past and taking place currently is around joint production and purchasing, training and interoperability. Helps that all three have been exercising together for decades

Looking at a map, UAE-India may make sense, but Israel can basically be cut off from UAE and India by Saudi, Egypt and Iraq

This video 100% aligns with my thinking.

This pact is a first step to realign the security architecture in the ME and West Asia. US will be retreating for many reasons, their population against ME wars and deployment being one.

There will be allot of early challenges including the US war on Iran and Yemen, Syria, Iraq and others involvement, however this pact must endure and evolve into a security arrangement which will provide prosperity to the people of the region.

Aligning command control structure, weapons, conms, training should be the low hanging fruit they can more easily achieve. How they respond to threats and things like Israeli aggression will be interesting to see.

The past is the past, and that’s exactly why I responded to Watandar the way I did. He keeps implying that “it failed before so it will fail again,” but that logic doesn’t hold up. It failed in the past because Muslim countries produced nothing. Everyone was a customer, nobody was a producer. You can’t build a serious alliance when every member is dependent on foreign weapons and foreign permission. Things are different now ...but honestly, this kind of alliance still feels about a decade too early.

And when it comes to Pakistan and Türkiye, we don’t need a piece of paper to be close. When India attacked, we helped. We didn’t need a treaty, a pact, or some fancy acronym. We helped so much that India launched a “boycott Türkiye tourism” campaign out of frustration. That’s what real partnership looks like. Now imagine what that looks like in five years when our weapons programs fully mature. Like I said: we don’t need any damn treaty to help Pakistan.

Saudi Arabia is a different story. How are we supposed to trust them? They’ve openly seen us as rivals for a century. We had no cooperation because they didn’t need us... they had the US and the West as their protectors. Türkiye wasn’t even in their strategic thinking. Suddenly, after Iran humiliated them, we’re in an alliance together? That’s not a foundation built on trust; that’s a reaction to vulnerability.

And this idea that Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Syria, and whoever else might join… that’s how you accidentally turn this into a NATO-style mess. NATO is a perfect example of what happens when you add states that bring no real weight. If Russia attacked some of those smaller members, the big powers wouldn’t actually do anything. So what happens here? If Iran attacks Kuwait, are we supposed to come to their aid? How do you rally your population behind defending a country we share nothing with? That’s the core problem with oversized alliances ..they look strong on paper but collapse when real obligations appear.

I hope for the best, but I expect nothing. Alliances only work when they’re built on genuine shared interests, not panic, not symbolism, and not sudden shifts after decades of distance.

Turkiye and Pakistan if were honest have already been allies for a long time. They've supported each other at various points in history and tend to support according to their capacity.

Of the Sunni nations their probably the two strongest and the two nations that if the worst came to the worst could probably go it alone and survive.

I'm going to speculate that this alliance for Turkiye is more about diplomacy and politics then it is about needing a nations military support.

This is a map of Turkiyes current military footprint in the region.

military_presence_map.png

By bringing Saudi Arabia into the fold, it makes the Turkish presence stronger in syria and potentially other Arab states. The importance of bringing egypt into the fold is that it will decouple them from greece/isreal and bring them in line with what Turkiye wants to achieve in the east med and libya.

This alliance is really about opening the doors for Turkish influence and power to spread wider into the region. Its not really about Turkiye needing their military support.

Ofcourse it will also be about selling weapons and making economic deals, but its really about allowing Turkiye to achieve regional ambitions far easier.

Now the benefit to the Muslims is that Turkiye expanding and growing in power and influence will make them safer. no different to how the Turkic empires of the past that grew and expanded served to protect the Muslims.

So logic tells that its in Turkish interests that this alliance expands and expands. The more nations that join it, the more doors that open for Turkiye to enter. Ofcourse everyone can benefit too, but i'm fairly certain this is the Turkish thinking.

India, Israel, UAE and US already have an established strategic PACT named i2U2

Militarily Israel and India have strong relations and partnership. UAE and Israel also have strong military relations.

I think for this new agreement - the founding members should work on how the framework will work, the rules of the road and the technological solutions to bind it all together to be effective. I don't think expansion should the focus but consolidation and operationalisation.

eg could Link-17 or link-18 be the glue that everyone works on to glue these countries together to be effective?

Always going to be a problem connecting any non US data link with US platforms
