Today In Aviation History: First Flight of the Ilyushin IL-76​

The Ilyushin IL-76 first flew on March 25, 1971, beginning the legacy of one of the world’s most widely used heavy transport aircraft. Originally developed as a commercial freighter, the IL-76 went on to serve extensively in military and civilian roles, with hundreds still in operation today.​
