Just a Nice Pic

Tell me something.
What is the difference between ANG and USAF?. don't these assets belong to the USAF
The assets are owned by USAF and are assigned to ANG units.

The chief differences between the USAF and the ANG is that the USAF is a federal component conducting federal missions whereas the ANG is a member of the National Guard Bureau conducting both state and federal missions. The ANG is also a reserve component of the USAF and is made up of both full-time and part-time members.

National Guard units both Army and Air Guard become federal units when ordered by the President.

Therefore, they are equipped with and train on the same equipment as the active duty units.

Here is a good link that provides a better explanation of the differences.

(Not so) Fun Fact:

D-Day 1944: The 29th ID landed alongside the 1st ID at Omaha Beach. The 29th ID is a National Guard division made up of a lot of troops from Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia. There is a monument to them at Vierville-sur-mer.

This is not my photo but I have one almost exactly like it in my personal collection from the Normandy trip:

Thanks for the clarity. I had the same idea but wasn't sure about it.

I know a couple ANG pilots and as a couple Air Force Reserve. The ANG guys and one of the Reserve pilots are commercial airline pilots. So they fly with their squadrons on weekends along with their "2 weeks a year". The other IIRC is an accountant of all things
