Kazakhstan will purchase six K-8W combat training aircraft from China, produced in the Karaganda region.
Kazakhstan, August 30 — Avia.pro. The Republic of Kazakhstan continues to consistently deepen and expand military-technical cooperation with the People's Republic of China. The country's Ministry of Defense and relevant agencies are implementing a comprehensive program to thoroughly modernize the Armed Forces' aviation component. Particular attention is being paid to upgrading the training aircraft fleet and improving flight crew training standards.The state-owned company Kazspetsexport officially published the final departmental materials of the working negotiations, which took place from August 11 to 13. Official representatives of the Kazakhstan Air Defense Forces (ADF) and the leadership of the Chinese state-owned aerospace corporation CATIC participated in the closed consultations. The parties finalized the parameters of strategic agreements on the supply of aviation equipment.
Released footage and documents confirm that, in addition to the previously agreed-upon Yun-9E heavy military transport aircraft, Astana intends to purchase six Chinese-made K-8W combat-trainer aircraft from Beijing. This step demonstrates a comprehensive approach to developing the country's air force, which simultaneously enhances the transport capabilities of light aircraft and significantly upgrades the technical base for training young pilots.
According to the approved terms of the bilateral contract, a detailed production and delivery schedule is tightly scheduled for a total of 26 months. Within the first 18 months, the Chinese corporation is required to fully manufacture the K-8W aircraft and prepare them for final factory acceptance. The next four months are allocated for intensive training of Kazakhstani specialists, followed by one month of factory testing, one month of transportation to Balkhash in the Karaganda region, and two months for final assembly, ground inspections, and on-site flight testing.
