BANNU: A fierce clash erupted on Saturday between police, a peace committee and terrorists in the Barakzai Akhundkhel area of Miryan tehsil in Bannu district, leaving at least 25 terrorists dead and several others injured, police said.

Two police personnel and two civilians were martyred in the exchange of fire, while seven policemen and three civilians sustained injuries.

District Police Officer Yasir Afridi told Dawn that more than 25 terrorists were killed during the police operation.

According to sources, the police peace committee received information about the presence of a large number of terrorists in the area and immediately launched an operation. The Lakki Marwat police peace committee also arrived to support the Bannu police.

Terrorists had erected barricades at various points along the routes, which police managed to clear while advancing.

Police sources said that despite intense firing, police personnel safely reached the police station, while additional reinforcements arrived to bring the situation under control.

According to police officials, two key terrorist commanders, Zmari Noor and Abdullah, were also killed in the operation. Local sources said a large number of terrorists were still present in the Barakzai area, keeping tensions high as intermittent firing continued from both sides.

Lucky Marwat: Appeal from Police and Public to Scholars Against Kharijites, Their Funerals Should Not Be Performed In Lucky Marwat, police officials and local individuals, during a meeting with religious scholars, took a firm stance against the Kharijites and demanded that the funerals of extremist elements should not be performed.

Police officials stated during the discussion that the Kharijites label them as "apostates" solely on the basis that they serve in the police and army, even though they are fulfilling the duty of protecting the state and the public.

We keep killing T's and they keep killing civilians and forces, and the cycle continues.

Cycle will end when local support end. With PTI rule thats impossible. KPK people voted for terrorism.
Nope, you can replace entire Pakistan's govt with Norwegian, or Swedish or Switzerland Govt's and you will still not have complete peace in KPK/Baluchistan, because you can change govt but you can't change people who refused to acknowledge that they have a problem or violence is wrong.

Security forces thwart attack on military post in North Waziristan: security sources

News Desk
June 2, 2026

Security forces foiled a suicide attack by Fitna al Khawarij on a military post near Miranshah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, security sources said on Tuesday.

Fitna al Khawarij is a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

As per security sources, the terrorists attempted to ram an explosive-laden vehicle into the post. However, security forces took timely action and destroyed the vehicle before it could reach the target, they said.

During the operation, four terrorists were killed, and security forces were on high alert, due to which the attack was thwarted.

Security sources further stated that the terrorists attempted the attack fearing the success of operations around Miranshah over the past few days, adding that over 20 terrorists have been killed in these operations so far.

According to security sources, further operations were underway in the area, and the perpetrators of the attack and their facilitators would be brought to justice.

There has been a resurgence in terrorism in Pakistan, especially in KP and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021.

Last week, at least eight militants, including two Afghan nationals belonging to the banned Tariq Gidar group — an affiliate of TTP were killed in KP’s Darra Adamkhel area in an operation. On May 19, security forces killed 22 India-sponsored terrorists in North Waziristan.

According to the monthly security assessment released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), Pakistan’s security situation deteriorated sharply in May, driven primarily by escalating terrorist violence in KP and Balochistan.

During the operation, security forces engaged the suspected hideout, triggering an intense exchange of fire that resulted in the killing of two terrorists.

In a separate intelligence-based operation in Mohmand district, security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and killed two more suspects, the ISPR said.
