Terrorist hideouts destroyed in Lakki police operation

LAKKI MARWAT: The police destroyed hideouts of terrorists in the forested area near the Wanda Painda Khan area here on Friday.

A police official said that the Saddar police, with the help of Counter-Terrorism Department commandos and Elite Force and Quick Response Force personnel, conducted the operation following information about the presence of terrorists and criminals there.

He said that the law enforcers searched the hideouts and then set them on fire.

He said that terrorists would use their safe havens established in the dense forests to plan and execute terrorist activities in the area, especially on the Lakki-Darra Tang section of the Bannu-Mianwali Road connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab.

“During the operation, the police also set up temporary checkpoints on roads and dirt tracks leading to the forested area and searched suspected houses and vehicles,” he said.

Security forces killed at least 27 terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij in a series of intelligence-based operations in the North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces engaged multiple “khwarij” locations in the general area of Miran Shah in what it described as the continuation of intelligence-based operations.

“Following intense fierce exchanges of fire, in the last seventy-two hours, twenty-seven khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij have been sent to hell,” said the ISPR.

The state uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij to refer to terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Two suspects killed, police constable injured in Hangu ambush on police vehicle

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two suspects in custody were killed and a police constable was injured on Monday after unidentified terrorists allegedly linked to Fitna al-Khawarij opened fire on a police vehicle in the Surozai area of Hangu district, according to Hangu District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Habib Khan.

The state uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij to refer to terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The incident occurred while the suspects, arrested in a case involving the abduction, rape, and murder of a minor child, were being transferred to jail after a court appearance. According to initial reports, unidentified armed attackers ambushed the investigation police vehicle near Surozai and opened fire.

As a result, the two under-custody suspects — identified as Dilshad and Amanullah — were killed on the spot. The DPO said Constable Safeerur Rehman sustained injuries in the attack, while the police vehicle also suffered partial damage.
