Bannu police release list of terrorists with head money

BANNU: The police on Friday released a list of 40 most wanted terrorists by publishing their names, photographs and the reward for those providing information leading to their arrest.

According to the police, these individuals were wanted in connection with bombings, attacks on security forces, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, targeted killings, and other serious criminal offences.

Police said that Akhtar Mohammad alias Khalil carried the highest bounty on the list, with a reward of Rs10 million. Rewards of Rs8 million each have been announced for Sadar Hayat alias Sufyan and Sadiqullah Gurbaz, while Nasirullah alias Geedar carries a bounty of Rs7 million. The lowest reward on the list is Rs500,000.

District police officer Furqan Bilal said the total reward announced for the 40 alleged terrorists amounted to Rs158.5 million.

2 cops martyred, as many injured in suspected IED attack in KP's Tank: police sources

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two cops were martyred and as many injured on Monday in what police suspect was an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district.

Sources in police told Dawn it appeared that an IED was used to target an armoured personnel carrier (APC) of the police in the incident that took place on Tank-Jandola Road.

They said initial reports suggested that the IED was planted along the roadside and was detonated while the APC was on routine patrol in the limits of Shaheed Mureed Akbar Police Station.

Consequently, Assistant Sub-Inspector Fareedullah and Constable Akhtar Zaman were martyred while Constables Abdul Malik and Qudratullah sustained injuries, the sources said. They added that the injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital.

The sources said security forces and police had cordoned off the site of the incident. Police had also launched a search operation, and evidence from the scene was also being collected, the sources said, adding that an investigation had been initiated to ascertain the circumstances of the incident and trace the perpetrators.

A member of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was killed while defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) in Khyber-Paktunkhwa's (K-P) Hassan Khel tehsil on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Muhammad Alam told The Express Tribune that BDS officer Khaista Rahman was attempting to neutralise an IED in the jurisdiction of Hassan Khel Police Station when it exploded, killing him on the spot.

The spokesperson said the IED was placed inside an abandoned police check post in Faqeeri Banar and the BDS officer was attempting to defuse the device following a tip-off received by the police.

Paying tribute to the deceased, Alam said, “He displayed exceptional courage and professionalism, placing the safety of the public above his own while carrying out the dangerous task of defusing the explosive device.”

Outlining the current situation, the spokesperson said the area had been cordoned off, and a heavy police contingent was on the ground.

He also claimed that a police operation was initiated to apprehend the suspects in the case.
