According to Yedioth Ahronoth, citing Israeli military sources, Israeli occupation forces have been instructed to cease fire but will not withdraw from the Ali al-Taher area in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh Governorate.
According to the report، occupation forces are surrounding dozens of resistance fighters, despite being unable to make significant advances in the area over the past several days.
Separately, Israeli Army Radio reported that the operation in which an Israeli tank crew and a battalion commander were killed was aimed at seizing control of tunnel networks in Ali al-Taher.
The Army Radio said dozens of fighters are inside underground tunnels in the area, which it claims is home to a major underground Hezbollah complex and the main headquarters of the group's Badr Unit.
Israeli Army Radio added that Hezbollah has mounted fierce resistance in recent days to defend the Ali al-Taher area, significantly increasing the pace of rocket fire in an effort to prevent Israeli occupation forces from advancing and maintaining control over the strategic hilltop.
