I never understood the "same page" concept.
Even though I am an IK supporter but when his government used to say "government and military or PM and COAS is on the same page" I used to get angry. How can they be on the same level and page ?
PM oversee all the ministries he is the boss of them, there is one such ministry called defence. It's minister then have a subordinate called defence secretary. Defence secretary is the boss of COAS. There is difference of atleast 3 levels. How can a PM and a COAS be on the same page constitutionally ? It doesn't make sense.
But then again we are a qoam who glorifies jernails be it Khalid bin Waleed, Salah uddin, raheel Shareef or Asim Munir. No problem with that. But they should atleast do these two things.
You raised valid points.
Pakistanis have a messiah complex. Our society has ingrained a deep sense of superiority complex, that we are the bastion of Ghazwa e Hind and our Generals will be the tip of sphere. That’s why we are still adamant on a unified Ummah when everyone has moved along. Pakistanis are not fast learners so to speak. We only adapt when push comes to shove.
As for the politics, politicians across the board have to learn to play along with the boys. Somehow, as I’ve grown and seen multiple coups, same page, regime changes, the fault lies squarely on the other side. The boys do as they wish, when there is a pushback, a ‘nazuq maur’ situation is created, and if and when politicians not abide by the boys expectations then a stamp of ‘gaddar’ and treasonous cases are conveniently slapped.
The play has been dramatized multiple times that only an idiot won’t see. So PPP, PMLN or PTI are no saints, but the culprit is sitting pretty somewhere else. Hope you get the hint. Only difference now is the public is cheering for the other side.
As for constitution, the piece of paper has been bastardized so much through ammendment, NROs, doctrine of necessity, arm twisting of the judiciary, protection against accountability indefinitely, essentially relegating it to a toilet paper status.
I’ve said multiple times bhai, solution is staring at us in the face. Rule of law, accountability for all, and every institution operates under the parameter set by the constitution (not the version bastardized by amendments).
