To clarify, of that population who did not have insurance prior to ACA, that was by choice.

There were plenty of interviews of the 20 somethings who were single and thought they were indestructible. Preferred to have the money for partying than have insurance for health care they figured they would never need.

And then it became a mandate.

That was the claim by right-wing people who argued against the ACA, and continues to be the claim.

Data shows that it's actually because insurance companies before the ACA had extremely high prices, and often these companies had monopolize across entire towns and cities. The ACA forced these companies to compete on a level playing field by presenting them on a singular online market place.

Actually, there is a pathway (several actually) for illegal to become a Resident (then become citizen), It can be done either by a K visa (Partner visa) or a U Visa (Criminal Justice visa)

Normally, you will need to be outside the US if you are illegal, but you can apply for a I-601A waiver to waive that requirement.

U visa is open for anyone who was victim of a crime and needed prosecution protection. Notice this is the same visa that gave the 50 or so Illegal Alien green card when they successfully sued Trump 1.0 for his then policy of separating their children from their care. Which I have a feeling when this current administration end there will be a lot of U visa application.

For a legal resident K visa takes a few months to a year. As long as you are in good financial and moral standing it is trivial. You do not even need a lawyer. For illegal residents the outcome is subject to getting the waiver which is not easy.

If the illegal does not have a criminal record, the waiver is easy, they are as easy as a legal resident application, my wife is a NY State Bar Lawyer, that's what she had been doing for a long time.

The reason why K Visa is not popular (Even with Legal residents) is that it takes a long time (You need to be on K Visa for 3 years+ and 2 more on a conditional green card.) On the other hand, most illegal immigrants don't even know I-601A exists. The only people who know that it can be waived are those who are rich enough to seek legal help, which is not typically accessible to the typical illegal family.

First of all, I am not saying what France 24 report was correct, I was saying there were NO ONE reporting on Newsom v Trump on Media except France 24, that's what their report as shown on the Youtube Video, so if you have an issue with that, you need to take it to them, that's their channel.

Second of all, that article came out around 9 am EST June 11 , which is 12 am my time, I watched that France 24 report around 10 pm my time (Which is around 8 am EST), and my post is around 1am my time, you can't expect me to keep checking who reported what every hour and everyday, I said that as far as my knowledge allow me to say since I have not seen any report coming out of anyone other than that France 24 report

As for the case, the Newsom vs. Trump case was not dismissed. The docket is still open as of today, June 11 PST, as per the US District Court website. The court is taking opposition argument on 11 am June 11, 2025, and Plaintiff's argument on 9 am June 12 2025
