Usually head position are assigned for 2 or 3 years and you got that extension by default when you got that position even if you left 1 day in retirement. That's a routine thing since ages.

Yeah, I think there is a weakness in having a serving army officer as head of ISI.

You can go from a Corps Commander or Head of PMA to head of one of the best intelligence agencies in the world? With very little prior experiance of intelligence?

CIA, Mossad, MI6 all have people who have lived and breathed that world for many years before taking charge.

There is a reason why "military" agencies like ISI, DGFI, etc. can be used to interfere in political matters and oppress people (enforced disappearances, extortion, etc.) - they are led by unqualified pawns who know no better and therefore would do anything to please their masters.

after so many months i am convinced that paksitan army top brass by and large those 27 Lt. generals are not working in the interest of Pakistan completely. They are working in the interest of them selves and others (Zardari, sharifs ect etc, plus foreign powers) and in between if the the interest of Pakistan comes into play so be it.

No, you are wrong.
There is no tenure post other than services chiefs and chairman Joint Chiefs.

Need someone more proactive. I would say a rather lacklustre tenure for Asim Malik so far.

But I suppose spy chiefs never like to be in the public eye and keep very private which is understandable. However the data over the last few years is not looking great.
