good to see India dwarfed United States in steel production. India will surpass China as well, government has sanctioned 1.4 trillion dollars for infrastructure development, which will drive massive domestic steel consumption.

Turkey’s first domesticly produced high-speed train nears completion, test runs set for 2026

Turkey’s first nationally produced electric high-speed train has reached 90% physical completion, with test runs scheduled for 2026, Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced.

The 225km/h train, designed with 8 aluminium-bodied carriages and 577 seats, marks a milestone in Turkey’s rail modernisation. The first prototype will undergo testing in 2026, paving the way for full-scale production. The trains’ aluminium construction ensures lightweight durability.
With 31 high-speed trainsets currently operating on Türkiye’s Yüksek Hızlı Tren (HSR) lines, the new domestic sets will represent nearly half of the fleet once completed, reports Ilke News Agency.
Currently, primarily Siemens Velaro TR trains run on the country’s high-speed lines, as well as some older CAF ETR 600 (HT65000 series) trains. In October last year, Turkey started construction on its first high-speed train factory.

‘New era’ for Turkish rail

The 15 train sets are set to be delivered between 2026 and 2028, according to the Transport Minister. They will feature 75% locally sourced components in series production. Lifts and dedicated sections for passengers with disabilities will be implemtened.
“With our own engineering, we are initiating a new era in Turkey’s railways,” said Uraloğlu, highlighting the project’s strategic and economic significance. Turkey’s push for self-sufficiency in high-speed rail reflects a broader shift toward homegrown transport solutions. Last year, the first domesticly produced electric locomotive started service. With 15 high-speed trains sets planned, the project aims to further boost domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependency.

Wherever you look, you'll see that we're literally on the brink of becoming a fully industrialised country. Two decades without outside interference and no social unrest - that's all we need.

From last year:
