The UAE Ministry of Defense deploys locally manufactured
Nimr Ajban Mk2 armored vehicles for the first time

The UAE Ministry of Defense officially released a video on October 18, 2024, showcasing the deployment of locally manufactured 4x4 Nimr Ajban Mk2 armored vehicles in active service with the UAE Armed Forces for the first time.
This represents a significant achievement for the UAE’s defense industry and its commitment to developing and using indigenous military technology.
The Nimr Ajban Mk2, which was first unveiled at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi in February 2021, represents an advanced version of the original Ajban series. Developed by Nimr, a UAE-based defense manufacturing company affiliated with EDGE Group, to meet the demands of modern combat and tactics. The vehicle's design focuses on improved mobility, superior protection and increased operational flexibility. Specifically, the Ajban Mk2 is built to meet STANAG 4569 standards, providing scalable protection against missiles, mines and improvised explosive devices. This makes the vehicle highly resistant to explosive threats and small arms fire, ensuring crew safety in hazardous environments.
The vehicle's suspension system is designed for rough terrain, providing superior stability and comfort for the crew, even in the most challenging environments. In addition, the modular design allows for various configurations, including troop transport, command and control roles, or as a weapons carrier. The Ajban Mk2 can be equipped with a range of integrated weapons systems, such as a remote-controlled weapons station, heavy machine guns, and anti-tank guided missile systems, making it extremely versatile on the battlefield.
Another
key feature of the Ajban Mk2 is its integrated electronics suite, which includes advanced communications systems, battlefield management tools and optional electronic countermeasures. This allows the vehicle to operate in network-centric warfare scenarios, where real-time communication and data sharing is critical to mission success.
The introduction of the Nimr Ajban Mk2 vehicle into active service underscores the UAE’s broader efforts to develop self-reliant defense capabilities.
