Mamdani releases undisclosed 9/11 files showing New Yorkers were lied to about air quality concerns​

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani released more than 170,000 pages of internal records Tuesday that show officials misled people about the safety of the air around Ground Zero after the September 11 terror attacks.

“People got sick because the leaders they trusted lied and told them they were safe to breathe in toxic air,” Mamdani said during a news conference, according to CNN.

without even reading the report I distinctly remember a big fuss about tons of asbestos in that building and how people should stay away.

A member of the architectural firm that designed the World Trade Center says while asbestos removal programs were conducted in the towers that collapsed from Tuesday's attacks, it is possible some small areas remain, leaving open a potential health threat during rescue and cleanup operations.

At the time the two towers were constructed, from 1968 through 1972, the health threat from inhaled asbestos fiber was just beginning to be recognized. Until then, it was routine for the steel girders of skyscrapers to be sprayed with an asbestos material.

I remember them saying the explosion of the jet likely blew the asbestos off the girders leading them to be directly exposed to the fire.

I mean anyone could have seen the debris and known it was toxic. All the payouts from 9/11, Asbestos was a big thing back then I think. Those photos from the aftermath are God-awful. Massive structures coming down in the heart of the financial district.

True that! Everyone associated with that event who got sick because of it should of course get free health care provided
