Microsoft cuts 4,800 jobs as it revamps Xbox

only the hands-on type stuff will remain, such as IT field operations/services.......stuff like cable pulls/installs,.......that is a skill (fiber optics) . Also tech stuff like repairing stuff like electronics and/or servicing stuff when getting up on ladders or lifts etc or changing cameras or display tv's

everything else can be taken over by AI (administrative and network/database admin)

Actually none on the engineering side. ( and I work in IT ). Business Analysts./Product/Project/Programme Managers yes, but the technical side is no.

On that note, the accounting firm Mrs. AZ works for was recently acquired by a global services company that specializes in? Accounting software and accounting solutions. They want to expand their services portfolio.

The first thing they did once the acquisition was complete was lay off ALL of the US IT support personnel. Care to guess where tech support comes from now?

I researched the new parent company. Care to guess where the CIO hails from?

A person at one company she worked at along the way questioned her level of commitment to those roles, given her tendency to hop jobs every three or four years, the typical time it takes for an executive’s personal stock awards to vest in the tech world.

lets hope all these foreign nationals in the US on work visas (specially from india) on h1b are sent back(deported) too. If americans cannot have the jobs first, then they shouldn't have any entitlement to them too. There's plenty of very skilled and professional Americans that can do these jobs.

Absolutely no need for any foreigners these days. Plenty of locals and young ones that can do the work

What i find pleasantly surprising is that msft has been getting rid of thousands of employees over the past few years and still havent dared to touch World's Edge, the studio responsible for age of empires series, one of most niche games out there.
