The Mohmand Project has achieved three key engineering milestones this October — fast-tracking progress toward the project’s 2028 completion.

Lower-level excavation of the right-bank diversion tunnel has officially started, following 74.94% completion of the upper section, boosting construction speed and efficiency.

Concrete pouring at the dam’s high toe block is underway, marking the transition into peak dam construction.

Consolidation grouting for Diversion Tunnel No. 2 has begun, reinforcing the structure for long-term stability.
Why it matters:
Located on the Swat River, the 800 MW Mohmand Project will:
• Produce 2.86 billion kWh of clean energy annually
• Supply 140+ million m³ drinking water
• Irrigate 16,700 hectares of farmland
• Reduce floods & support sustainable growth in KP.
