"I am going to my local Gurdwara to make sure no one comes near that space, and I am going to protect the permiter. If anyone brings any violence to my house of prayer, it is going to be utter and extreme violence."

I wonder if Sikhs - at some fundamental level - regret "missing out" in 1947 when an opportunity was there for them to take a homeland for themselves.

Jinnah, Iqbal, Nehru, Gandhi, Golwalkar had all generated influence - by hugely different mechanisms - over the British to achieve their various ends, again to varying degrees of success.

Sikhs were always, since their inception, a simple gun for hire, co-opted by hindus and by the British for their own agendas (even by Mughals at times). The reason this is important is that nothing has changed. In the subcontinent they had willingly adopted the label of "dharmic" to please one master. Today they think they are "judeochristian values saar!" to please the Reform Party and Tommy Robinson.
Sikhs did not form a majority anywhere in Punjab to be able to form their own state. They were always a minority even in their holiest cities like Amritsar. The British further outright rejected the request of Tara Singh that Sikhs be given their own state.

That left Sikhs with two options. Join Pakistan or join India.

Pakistans offer = undivided Punjab where Sikhs would be given protected status.

Indias offer = a smaller divided Punjab where Sikhs would be the majority and Punjabi the official language

-----------------------------------------------------------

Tara Singh/Sikhs did not trust Pakistan due to their own historical greviences with Muslim authorities (Sikhs historically had been at odds with the Mughals and even local Punjabi rulers like Adina Beg).

Nehru meanwhile de facto promised the Sikhs autonomy within India which is ironic given that he refused to do the same for Muslims.

-----------------------------------------------------------

When I read their history I think it is clear that they are elements within the Sikh community that are rather cunning due to neccesity since as mentioned they have always been a minority and are always at risk of being exterminated.

The bet that Tara Singh made in 1947 gave them temporary respite but the demographic trend of Indian Punjab is clear. In the coming decades Hindus will outnumber Sikhs in Indian Punjab and Sikhs will disproportionately emigrate from Indian Punjab, slowly turning Sikhs into a novelty community.

As for their behaviour in the UK I think it shows similar trends that can be observed from their behaviour in South Asia. The more politically shrewd amongst them go out of their way to display their patriotic Britishness hoping that this will persuade the average Brit to see them differently from Muslims. I would imagine at least some are smart enough to realize though that the British far right could not care less if you were a Muhammad or a Ranjit. They might temporarily be focusing on Muslims but in the long run they are in the same boat.

"Ex-serviceman" da bacha. Wish this one and the other one who called up would stfu about their military b.s. "Saar we carried kirpan in WW2. Saar we saved Britain from Nazis. Saar we want statue for our military heroes"

They are being exposed every time they open their mouths.

It may interest the forum to learn that around TWICE AS MANY subcontinental Muslims served for the British Empire as Sikhs did in WW2. Yet we don't jump around doing bhangra about it and demanding statues or what not. Perhaps we jolly well should! We bled out in the jungles of Burma for someone else's war.

Gurkhas also wielded a special knife in war that has cultural significance, the kukri. But they don't demand to carry it in public in a country where that is illegal for everyone!

The ex-serviceman Sikh on LBC was complaining that his kirpan was welcome on the battlefield when needed by the British, so why shouldn't he be allowed to carry it on the streets? The British owe him a favour, apparently.

This alone should clarify just how warped this community has become.
