Almost everybody has had an interaction with law enforcement one way or another. I think that also includes if you were in a car accident and the cops came to the scene and took your name.

Most corporate employers won't hire people with criminal records. If 1 in 3 had criminal records this country would stop overnight.

This 96% stat above is one of the main reasons California and NYC have a mini crime wave. Their stupid Progressive/Liberal politicians are trying to minimize the number of people stigmatized with a criminal record thus preventing them from getting a job. To do that they figured one of the top criminal record reasons was shoplifting. So they decided a "great idea" would be to raise the minimum amount you have to steal before you'll be charged with a criminal offense. Thus "saving" mostly poor people from future unemployment due to having a criminal record for shoplifting.

Frankly, there are higher leaving stats than before but very very rarely illegal.
If an italian town is offering US citizens a decent house for $300 why not?
Same for Mexico, portugal and so on.
So while many may have “left” the US they did not stop being citizens - it would be interesting to see US expat worker numbers rather than immigration

Watch out for illegal immigrants coming from Vietnam, particularly from the North Central Coast.
