Netflix now available in 190+ countries with over 280M subscribers - Updates and Discussion

I’m a big sci‑fi fan, and lately I’ve been revisiting some of my favorites. I watched Travelers twice, and I’m gearing up to rewatch I, Robot. I recently saw an interview where someone mentioned Elon Musk predicting that by 2032, AI could take over most jobs and it instantly made me think of I, Robot and how close some of those themes feel now.
Good scifi is hard to make. I would recommend Battlestar Galactica, the 2004 version. Awesome show.

Soft power for Indonesian too, now many Indonesian movies are accessble world wide. I see Germany, Japan, Korean also produce good movies

Actually the movie list is not the same worldwide. What I see in Netflix and what you see are two different things. Netflix may have gotten the licensing rights to show Indonesian movies in Indonesia but not worldwide.

For instance you may see “Sewu Dino” in your search but others wouldn't.

Correct, it is based on what we want to see, but Indonesian movies are available world wide as well

Indonesian movies are also many available in other Western streamings other than Netflix

The Big 4 Ranks No. 2 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Films

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia --

The Big 4, a film directed by Timo Tjahjanto, has achieved success both in Indonesia and globally. The action-comedy film has made it onto Netflix’s global Top 10 films list.

According to a report by Variety, The Big 4 ranked second among non-English-language films after being watched for more than 16.4 million hours during the period of Dec. 12–18, 2022.

God’s Crooked Lines occupied the top spot during the same period.

The Big 4 also made the Top 10 films list in 53 countries, including Argentina, Spain, Greece, South Korea, and Thailand. Meanwhile, the film ranked No. 1 in Indonesia.

Netflix Indonesia congratulated The Big 4 on its achievements in Indonesia and around the world.

“Just want to congratulate The Big 4 gang for immediately shooting to No. 1 among the most-watched films in Indonesia and No. 2 in the world. EXPLOSIVE!!!” the @NetflixID account wrote on Wednesday (Dec. 21).

During a press conference, Timo Tjahjanto explained why he combined comedy and action in The Big 4. He wanted to present comedy while still incorporating bloody action sequences, which have become a hallmark of Timo’s films.

Timo also acknowledged that his previous works have always been associated with a dark atmosphere. He said he had often heard such reactions from people around him.

“Some people have told me before, ‘Man, it’s crazy. Whenever you come out of a Timo film, you feel really down, like there’s no hope at all,’” Timo said.

“This time, I still want to have a high body count, but in the end, it’s full of hope,” he added.

The Big 4 is an Indonesian action-comedy film directed by Timo. It tells the story of four former assassins and a police officer who become involved in a mission to uncover a murder.

In addition to directing the film, Timo served as a producer alongside Wicky V. Olindo and co-wrote the screenplay with Johanna Wattimena.

The action film features a number of Indonesian actors, including Abimana Aryasatya, Arie Kriting, Lutesha, Kristo Immanuel, and Putri Marino.

The film also stars Marthino Lio, Michelle Tahalea, Willem Bevers, Andri Mashadi, Michael Kho, and Budi Ros.

An excellent classic TV series! Also, try Babylon 5 if you get a chance. Another classic of that period.
It's funny you mentioned Babylon 5 because I've been checking out episodes on YouTube. I believe the show was ahead of its time..

And I'm a fan of all things Stargate. Especially Stargate Atlantis

Its a shame the reboot project failed to take off as I was looking forward to getting back into the Stargate world again.

Yes, it is a shame but Stargate in some form will return sooner or later. It's too rich of a property not to

Sci Fi channel at one point had on Friday's SG-1, Alantis and then BSG-2004 pure peek awesomeness for that channel then NBC said F-it blow it up.

Btw they gave the go-ahead for new Stargate series a few months ago only to be yanked it because the folks at Prime that gave the go were replaced by...... you guessed it woke cht heads and canceled it because the storyline was going to be a continuation and not a reboot. Now there's rumors that these same cht heads are planning to bring back Stargate but their own version of how it should be basically Star Trekking and Star Warsing Stargate into pile of crap they have been producing.

I can only imagine the current Stargate universe/Earth after 20 years with Asgard computer core and all their technology. Oh well I get my Stargate fix reading Fanfiction which many do a good job continuing the storyline unfortunately 90% of the good Stargate stories are left unfinished/abandoned.

Hmm, I could never get into the Stargate TV shows. Which one would you recommend for me to try it again? The version with the MacGuyver dude ?

Well the original with the MacGyver dude is the first show and lasted 10 years so you might want to start there..

Personally, I'm more a fan of Stargate Atlantis which was the second stargate show.

Truth be told I'm more a fan of the original Stargate movie.
