রংপুরের তারাগঞ্জ উপজেলায় একজন মুক্তিযোদ্ধা এবং তার স্ত্রীকে গলা কেটে হত্যা করা হয়েছে।

জেলার পুলিশ সুপার মারুফাত হোসাইন জানান, কুর্শা রাহিমাপুর ইউনিয়নের খিয়ারপাড়া গ্রামের তাদের বাড়ি থেকে রোববার সকালে পুলিশ লাশ দুটি উদ্ধার করে।

মুক্তিযোদ্ধা যোগেশ চন্দ্র রায় স্থানীয় চাকলা প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ের সাবেক প্রধান শিক্ষক। তার বয়স ৭৫ বছর। তার স্ত্রী সুবর্ণা রায়ের বয়স ৬০ বছর।
ঘটনাস্থলে থাকা তারাগঞ্জ উপজেলা মুক্তিযোদ্ধ সংসদের আব্হ্বায়ক উপন চন্দ্র রায় বলেন, শনিবার গভীর রাতের কোনো এক সময় এ হত্যাকাণ্ড ঘটে।

“যোগেশ চন্দ্র রায় ছিলেন এলাকার সম্মানিত শিক্ষক ও মুক্তিযোদ্ধা।”

রোববার ভোরে ডাকাডাকির পরও দরজা না খুললে প্রতিবেশী দীপক মই লাগিয়ে বাড়ির ভেতরে প্রবেশ করেন। রান্নাঘরে সুর্বণা রায়ের এবং শোবার ঘরে যোগেশ চন্দ্র রায়ের মরদেহ দেখতে পেয়ে তিনি স্থানীয়দের খবর দেন।

মি. রহমান বলেন, "কেউ কেউ বলে থাকে পলাতক স্বৈরাচার বিএনপির সম্পর্কে যেভাবে মিথ্যা প্রোপাগান্ডা ছড়াতো, আমরা ইদানীং লক্ষ্য করছি কিছু কিছু ব্যক্তি বা দল ঠিক একই সুরে গান গাইছে বা একইসুরে কথা বলার চেষ্টা করছে। এখন প্রশ্ন হচ্ছে তাদেরও তো দু'জন ব্যক্তি আমাদের সাথে সেইসময় সরকারে ছিল। এই দু'জন ব্যক্তি পৃথিবীতে আর নেই।"

তিনি মন্তব্য করেন, " এখন তাদের দলের অন্য যে যত বড় বড় কথাই বলুক না কেন, খালেদা জিয়া শেষ পর্যন্ত দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করেছে এবং সেই আত্মবিশ্বাস তাদের ছিল বলেই শেষ দিন পর্যন্ত খালেদা জিয়ার সরকারে ছিল। কাজেই এই কনক্লুশানে আমাদের আসতে হবে বিএনপির পক্ষেই দুর্নীতির লাগাম টেনে ধরা সম্ভব।"

উল্লেখ্য, ২০০৩ সালে বিএনপি জামায়াতে ইসলামীর সাথে জোট বেঁধে নির্বাচন করে জয়লাভ করে। সেসময় জামায়াতে ইসলামীর দুইজন নেতা জোট সরকারের মন্ত্রিসভায় ছিল।
