New Trump plan would impose $100,000 fee on foreign students wanting to work in US after graduation

The current 100K on H1-B is not working for Trump babu, I wonder if this will stand the courts...

It would be paid using payroll deductions by employers who hire them or by the companies themselves who hire them.

The more pertinent question is, under what law does he have the authority to introduce a new income tax?

Remember, how H1-B "fee" fell apart?

Very likely supreme court is going to throw it out. All of these are stupid stunts to support his falling ratings due to starting world war 3.

Friends of a certain civilisational persuasion we're quickly onto the thread deploying laughter to disguise their concern. Rightly so.

Certainly likely...but these proclamations fall more under the "don't blame me for not trying to help local workers...where was your support"

Most people don't give a sh*t about the Middle East so no stunts are even needed.

In which case it will favor large(r) companies. I don't see this not getting challenged by companies on grounds of "equal" opportunity for talent etc.

100K for a recent masters doesn't make much difference for Fortune 500 and similar companies. The average immigrant MBA/Masters is starting at 160K (if not more). Companies can foot the additional 100K if push comes to shove.

And frankly, students taking away jobs is such a stupid argument - I would never hire a fresh grad vs. an experienced US employee. A good amount of time is spent on ramp-up / "real-world" know how etc.

Beautiful. Sick and tired of all these international students taking our jobs.

Hahaha, they are not taking away your job, unless you are a useless fellow - they are untrained and require so much hand holding. Unless its pushing paper / moving boxes, they are replacing no one.
