Sam Darnold and Drake Maye will both feels the pressure when they meet in the Super Bowl

Both sides finished 14-3, won eight games on the road and developed a serious winning habit.

The Patriots lost their three games by a combined 19 points and the Seahawks lost theirs by just nine in total, so they are both tough to beat.

This is the first Super Bowl meeting between two teams that finished with both top four scoring offences and scoring defences, showing how well rounded they are.

New England scored just seven points more than Seattle as they finished second and third on offence, while the Seahawks had the best scoring defence in the league.

The Pats locked it down in the post-season though. Despite scoring the fewest points ever in three play-off games (54) the defence allowed just 26 points, the second-fewest ever, to fight into the Super Bowl.

Seattle blew away the 49ers then won a shootout with the Rams, and with the better skill position players and quick-strike offence they should have the firepower to win another.

The Pats will be looking for a tense, tight defensive scuffle in a bid to win a record seventh Lombardi Trophy.

NFL team's logo links Super Bowl fans to indigenous roots​

The Seattle Seahawks logo was chosen in the 1970s

Wallace Nagedzi Watts had been going to Seahawks games for almost three decades when a historical discovery helped supercharge his fandom - and deepened his connection to his indigenous roots.

"It kind of changed my whole life," says Watts, a prominent fan of the American football team who goes by the name Captain Seahawk.


"Because of the Seattle Seahawks I started getting back into my culture."
Speaking to the BBC while driving down to attend the Super Bowl game in Santa Clara, California, where the Seahawks are due to take on the New England Patriots, Watts says "it's been my life's mission for the last 12 years to notify everyone that the Seahawks logo was copied from the Kwakwaka'wakw tribe on Vancouver Island".

The discovery was made during the Seahawks last Super Bowl sting - coincidentally also against the Patriots - in 2014.

Amid city-wide excitement, the Burke Museum in Seattle decided to investigate the origins of the Seahawks logo, which was chosen by the team's manager in the mid-1970s. A black-and-white photo of a ceremonial mask in an old art book revealed the inspiration behind the design, which was then traced to a collection at the Hudson Museum in Maine.

The museum sent the mask to Seattle on loan, where a ceremony was held featuring both tribal members and team representatives.

1960 - The tri-corner hat logo​

The name "Patriots" came from a fan submission contest with the winners eligible to win a new television set. The original logo, a blue tri-corner hat on a white background, was also from a fan - Somerville, Mass native and railroad employee Walter Pingree. This was also the only season numbers appeared on the sides of the helmets.

What an effing boring game this was. I don't know if I said it here or the old man thread but I said that it didn't feel like the best teams are playing in super bowl and it sure showed. Bills Vs Rams would have been an awesome game but bad calls by refs and coaching F-ed the whole SB. I hope next season the teams that are supposed to be dominate show up next season... This season was just effing weird.

Lol. Rams lost the #1 seed all because of a couple of fluke plays when they played at Seattle week 16. Bills got robbed by refs at Denver... ahhhh F it! Disappointing SB.

This stupid game was so boring it forced me to talk to my family during the game where previous games that were exciting I could tell them to shut up leave me alone I'm watching the game. Family knew it was a boring game and I wasn't paying much attention that they asked me stupid questions!!!! WHY!!! WHY!!! Leave me alone!!!
