N. Korea's Kim arrives in China's Dandong via newly opened bridge​

SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Yonhap) -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has arrived in China's border city of Dandong via a newly opened bridge linking the two nations, a government source said Saturday.

The government source told Yonhap News Agency that Kim arrived in Dandong after taking the bridge across the Amnok River, also known as the Yalu River in China.

Kim "arrived in Dandong, in China's Liaoning Province, via the New Amnok River Bridge," the source said.

N. Korea's Kim arrives in China's Dandong via newly opened bridge​

SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Yonhap) -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has arrived in China's border city of Dandong via a newly opened bridge linking the two nations, a government source said Saturday.

The government source told Yonhap News Agency that Kim arrived in Dandong after taking the bridge across the Amnok River, also known as the Yalu River in China.

Kim "arrived in Dandong, in China's Liaoning Province, via the New Amnok River Bridge," the source said.

Reports have been circulating on Chinese social media that Kim Jong Un traveled to Dandong to visit the Dandong Huanghai Bus manufacturing plant.

According to publicly available information, the factory is currently operating at a very low capacity. Its performance in recent years has been dismal, with only a small volume of overseas exports and domestic deliveries.

Possible reasons for Kim Jong Un’s visit to this facility include:
1. North Korea has placed a large order with the factory.
2. North Korea intends to acquire or take an equity stake in the factory.
3. North Korea plans to purchase only the production lines and related manufacturing equipment to relocate them within North Korea.

Naturally, these are currently just speculations. However, the fact that Kim Jong Un visited a Chinese bus manufacturer on the verge of collapse suggests that this was no ordinary visit.
